It’s not just blushing. It’s not just redness.
You know that Rosacea affects nearly every aspect of your life.
What is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic and quite common skin condition, affecting 1 in 20 people. Severity ranges from mild, with a tendency to look flushed or blush easily, commonly affecting the central part of the face (nose and cheeks). In others, rosacea may cause visible blood vessels, swelling, or even acne-like skin changes. Eventually, the skin changes of rosacea can be seen permanently on face.
Rosacea is so common, some well known public figures have the condition (Bill Clinton, Renee Zellweger, Cameron Diaz, and Prince Harry).
What treatments are available for rosacea?
Rosacea treatment with Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is extremely effective in treating the prominent blood vessels under the skin, and reducing redness. The light is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the abnormal blood vessels, causing them to heat up and clot off. After healing, they become less visible. At Face Forward Medical Aesthetics in Lexington, we have BBL by Sciton, the world’s most powerful IPL treatment.
The same light-based treatment is directed at small prominent facial blood vessels (the medical term is telangiectasias), which are often present in patients with rosacea.
