Halo

Total Skin Rejuvenation

Sciton’s Halo is the only hybrid fractional laser, delivering precise results with less downtime by combining the benefits of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. No other laser currently on the market produces such dramatic results without a prolonged recovery. To understand the power of Halo, you first have to understand the rationale for laser skin resurfacing and the differences between ablative vs. non-ablative technology.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a well-established treatment to reduce age spots, wrinkles, blemishes, and scars, balance skin tone, and tighten the complexion. It works by removing damaged layers of skin.

CO2 Laser

What is a ‘Fractional’ Laser?

The first laser techniques involved a CO2 laser. CO2 resurfacing proved that treating the entire skin surface with a wide laser beam achieved dramatic results but at a significant cost (pain and downtime). It turns out that treating just a fraction of the skin surface by creating a grid of thousands of microscopic laser beams achieves similar results with less downtime. The concept is similar to the effect of aerating your lawn to promote healthy growth without digging up the entire lawn.

What is Ablative vs. Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing?

Laser treatment is considered ablative when it removes the outer layers of skin. Traditional CO2 lasers did deep ablative resurfacing but required general anesthesia and over two weeks of downtime. Erbium YAG lasers are also ablative.

Non-ablative lasers pass through the skin layers without removing them, achieving less discomfort and requiring only topical anesthetics. Halo combines the best characteristics of all laser skin resurfacing technology.

Halo is a hybrid fractional laser that uses both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. This allows for great results with minimal downtime.

What are the Benefits of Halo Laser?

  • Customizable treatment to precisely target skin damage
  • Improvement in the appearance of tone, texture, fine lines, and wrinkles
  • Reduces pore size and increases reflectivity and glow
  • Reduced downtime when compared with CO2 lasers

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

What’s great about Halo is that you can choose how many treatments you want! After discussing your needs with your provider, you can choose to have one or two aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.

What Happens During the Treatment?

Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment, your provider will place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure each region is treated evenly. The clinician will treat each measured section by uniformly rolling the Halo handpiece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

What Does Halo Feel Like?

Thanks to Halo’s topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Many patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but they are generally comfortable. After the treatment, patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

How Soon After My Treatment Can I Return to Normal Activities?

For the first 24 hours, you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician’s instructions, but after that, you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours, your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup.

For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days, you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four, your skin will peel, revealing your new pristine complexion beneath.

When Will I See Results?

You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.
