Hi everyone! My first blog post! Very exciting. I just wanted to talk about about my story for a couple of minutes, and if you want, you can see this blog in video format as well.
My name is Jill Canes. I'm a Nurse Practitioner and owner at Face Forward Medical Aesthetics, a brand new medical spa in Lexington MA. One of the first questions my patients always ask is how I got into Aesthetics, and why I decided to open my own med spa.
My aesthetics journey all started back in 2006 when I finished my NP degree. After graduation, I took a job primarily doing injectables (botox, dermal filler) at a prominent medical spa on Newbury Street. I absolutely loved my job, primarily because I loved helping patients feel confident in their own skin. There’s an immediate and incredibly uplifting feeling to see people’s confidence bloom literally right in front of my eyes. I was absolutely hooked. I also loved the artistic aspect of facial aesthetics.
I’m a positive person (I swear!), but I honestly did not love some of the policies and procedures that went along with working for a large chain med spa. One of the biggest drawbacks was not being able to perform my own consults. The workflow was such that consults were not done by the same person administering treatments. This meant that sometimes patients showed up in my office with unrealistic expectations, or they didn’t fully understand the procedure or the results that the procedure would deliver. My approach to consultations is comprehensive and individualized, as you will see!
I left the industry for a while, started a family, but I always had a feeling that I would get back into aesthetics one day, because it is my true passion. Once you see a patient’s confidence transform, there’s no better feeling. However, I knew that my re-entry into the aesthetics world needed to be on my own terms, which is what led me into opening my own Medical Spa. It’s incredibly comforting to know that everything that I provide my patients is of the highest quality. I personally stand behind every procedure that I offer. I have a results-driven attitude. If a procedure doesn’t produce results, I won’t have it on our menu. Even more to the point, every procedure that I offer is something I would do myself.
